DiGiacomo Helps No. 9 Owens Golf Fire Back-To-Back 292s In Pair Of First Place Finishes

Columbus, Ohio---The No. 9 Owens Community College men's golf team, led by Dominic DiGiacomo (Ocean City/Ocean City, N.J.), swept two more Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) tournaments this past weekend to remain undefeated in conference play.

On Saturday, Owens shot a 292 at North Star Golf Club in Columbus to capture first place by 18 strokes over second place Cincinnati State in the Columbus State Classic. Columbus State came in third at 317, while Lakeland finished fourth at 324.

Individually, Owens was led by Will Mullins (St. Bernadette's/Bristol, U.K.) and Karit Kitipongpatana (St. Dominic School/Bangkok, Thailand) on Saturday. Those two each shot a 71 to tie for first place, while DiGiacomo finished third with a 74, and Bandit Chaisuk (Phathumthapwittayakarn/Nong Khai, Thailand) finished sixth with a 76. Dylan Holsclaw (Plainfield/Plainfield, Ind.) added a 79, Harrison Quirk (Wilnecote/Tamworth, U.K.) added an 81, and Wyatt Spalding (Summerfield/Petersburg, Mich.) had an 82.

On Sunday, Owens shot another 292, this time at Bent Tree Golf Club, to finish ahead of second place Lakeland by 12 strokes in the Columbus State Open. Columbus State (306) and Cincinnati State (307) finished third and fourth.

This time, DiGiacomo fired a 69 to finish in first place individually. Mullins and Chaisuk each shot a 74 to tie for fourth place, while Quirk and Holsclaw each shot a 75 to tie for eighth. Kitipongpatana had a 76 and tied for 11. Rounding out the lineup was Spalding, who shot an 81.

League Team Standings

Through four conference tournaments, Owens is the top team with 16 points. Cincinnati State is in second with 10 points, while Lakeland and Columbus State are tied with seven points. All four teams will compete in two more tournaments on Sunday and Monday - hosted by Lakeland Community College. Both of them will be at Quail Hollow Golf Club.

Following that, Owens will host a pair of tournaments on May 1-2 to close out conference play.

League Individual Standings

Mullins and DiGiacomo are both tied for first place in the conference with a 74.25 average. Evan Bryan of Cincinnati State is third, but just behind him are Kitipongpatana (75.50), Chaisuk (76.50) and Quirk (77.25). Holsclaw is next up for Owens with a 79.00 average, while Spalding is averaging an 82.00.
