Owens Men's Golf Looks To Win Program's First National Title

Plymouth, Ind.---The Owens Community College men's golf team has finished preparations for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament at Swan Creek Golf Course in Plymouth, Ind.

The team finished up its final practice round today and will tee off tomorrow in the first of four rounds with a national champion being crowned on Friday.

"The guys have prepared very well this past week and last couple days," said Owens Community College head men's golf coach Josh Williams. "We are just going to go out and play relaxed and have some fun. If we do that, who knows what could happen."

Owens will have five golfers represent the team and all five will be teeing off in the 14th through 18th groups tomorrow. Will Mullins (St. Bernadette's/Bristol, United Kingdom) will lead things off with an 8:57 a.m. tee time, followed by Dominic DiGiacomo (Ocean City/Ocean City, N.J.) at 9:06 a.m., Dylan Holsclaw (Plainfield/Plainfield, Ill.) at 9:15 a.m., Karit Kitipongpatana (St. Dominic School/Bangkok, Thailand) at 9:24 a.m. and Bandit Chaisuk (Phathumthapwittayakarn/Nong Khai, Thailand) at 9:33 a.m.

Owens is coming off its third Region XII tournament championship in the past four years. DiGiacomo medaled in the tournament to give the region's top golfer award to Owens for the fourth straight season. Furthermore, Mullins won the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Player of the Year award after leading the team to an OCCAC championship.

Notes

This will mark the fourth straight year Owens has competed in the men's golf national tournament and the sixth overall in the 11 years of the program. Over the past three seasons, Owens has recorded three top 10 finishes, including ninth last year, fifth in 2014 and 10th in 2013. They also finished 10th in 2008 and 14th in 2006.
