Gentles Helps No. 15 Express Men Clinch Share Of First Ever OCCAC Championship With 3-0 Win Over Lakeland CC

Toledo, OH---Vijay Gentles scored two goals to help lead the No. 15 Express men's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Lakeland Community College at home today.

With the win, the Express have clinched at least a share of Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) championship. It is their first OCCAC title since the program began in 1998. They can capture the championship outright with a win or tie against Cincinnati State on Saturday.

Gentles opened the game's scoring at the 42:30 mark by booting in a cross from Glenroy Miller. Owens took that 1-0 lead into the break.

Gentles then headed in a cross from Juavanie Cole at the 59:08 mark to give his team a 2-0 lead. Miller added the third goal at the 88:27 mark on an assist from Piet-Lennart Louwes.

With his two goals, Gentles doubled his goal total for the season. He now has four goals and four assists.

Miller's goal was his 26th of the season, and he now owns the third highest goal total in program history behind Sean Bucknor's two 28 goal seasons in 2006-07. Miller was tied with Sean Brown's 25 goals in 2001 heading into the game.

The assist for Louwes was his fourth of the year.

The Express improved to 14-4-1 overall and 5-0 in the OCCAC this year. It is their fourth highest win total in a single season. They will travel to Xavier University to take on Cincinnati State Technical and Community College at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
