Toledo, OH---Jacob Martin, a sophomore midfielder for the Express men's soccer team, has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) D-I Player of the Week.

The award is for the week ending Sept. 15.

Martin, who scored three goals and added two assists in three victories for the Express last week, is also the reigning OCCAC offensive player of the week.

Last week, Martin produced an assist in the team's first game, a 4-0 win over Lakeland Community College. In a 2-1 win over Morton College (IL), he scored both of the team's goals, including the game winner in OT. Then, he scored the game winner in a 3-1 win over Ancilla College, while also adding an assist.

Martin, who is a two-time OCCAC offensive player of the week this year, has six goals and three assists for the season, including three game winning goals (two in overtime).

Martin is the first Express men's soccer player to win NJCAA D-I Player of the Week honors since Juavanie Cole did it last season.

The Express are 8-1 overall this year and 2-0 in OCCAC play. Their next game, which is arguably their biggest of the season to date, will be at home next Wednesday against No. 6 Cincinnati State, who is currently undefeated. The game starts at 4 p.m.
