Martin's First Half Goal Stands as Express Men Post 1-0 Shutout of Muskegon

Toledo, OH---Jacob Martin's first half goal proved to be enough as the Express men's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over Muskegon Community College today.

In a tightly contested matchup, Martin's header on a cross from Vijay Gentles put the Express up 16:48 into the match. 

Muskegon actually out-shot the Express 17-13 overall and 7-3 in shots on goal, while also producing more corner kicks (8-7).

Joshua Kleinow went the distance in goal for the Express, while once again making some key saves in net. He finished with seven saves. 

Loghan Stong made two saves in goal for Muskegon.

Notes

Muskegon fell to 10-2 overall this year with the loss, and their only two losses have come to the Express, who won 3-0 in an earlier match at Muskegon on Aug. 25.

The Express improved to 9-1-1 with their win today. They will host Lake Michigan College tomorrow at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on BCSN.

Martin now has a team-high eight goals this year, after breaking his tie with Bjion Campbell today. He leads the team with four game winning goals.

Gentles, meanwhile, has a team-high eight assists.

This year's Express team continues to challenge the 2007 team for best start in program history. Each team started 9-1-1, while this year's team has three more games to match the 2007 team's 12-1-1 start.
