Toledo, Ohio---Josiah McCloud (Monclova Christian/Toledo, Ohio) headed in the game winning goal in the 89th minute to give the Owens Community College men's soccer team a 2-1 win over Muskegon Community College today.

Austin Combs (Anthony Wayne/Maumee, Ohio) received a pass from Agustin Bonjour (Purificacion No. 28/Montevideo, Uruguay) and pushed the ball up the left side. He struck a ball on goal, it bounced off the top of the crossbar and McCloud headed it in, which set off a celebration.

The game was tied at a goal apiece at halftime. Muskegon's Chaise Schuiteman took a pass off a free kick from Keith Kuharevicz at the 20:09 mark to give his team an early lead. Four minutes later, however, Trae Green (Blessed Pope John Paul II C.S.S./Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) collected a rebound off a defensive save by Muskegon and curved a ball into the top right corner of the net to tie the game.

Owens held a 10-6 advantage over Muskegon in shots on goal, including a 16-10 advantage in overall shots.

Ryan Wicher (Whitmer/Toledo, Ohio) started and went the distance in goal for Owens. He made three saves, including one on a dangerous ball close to the goal midway through the second half.

Muskegon's Jacob Berens made four saves in goal. He played the entire game.

Owens improves to 3-1 overall with the win, including a 2-1 mark in Region XII play. Their next action will be Wednesday on the road against Lakeland Community College at 4 p.m.

Muskegon, meanwhile, who lost in overtime yesterday, fell to 0-6 this year. They've lost four games by one goal.

"That was a very good 0-5 team," said Owens men's soccer head coach Art Johnson.

Notes

McCloud's goal was his fourth of the season. He is tied for second on the team in goals.
