Toledo, Ohio---Ahmad Jarrar (Hendersonville/Hendersonville, N.C.) gave the No. 17 Owens Community College men's soccer team an early 1-0 lead, but No. 7 Cincinnati State answered back three times to go home with a 3-1 win today.

Austin Combs (Anthony Wayne/Maumee, Ohio) struck a solid ball towards Cincinnati State's goalkeeper Tom Ingram, who deflected it to Jarrar, who in turn kicked it in at the 10:53 mark to give Owens the early lead.

Seven minutes later, Mohamed Thiaw answered for the Surge off an assist from Trae Collins. The game remained tied at halftime.

Cincinnati State scored twice more in the second half to seal the deal. In the 60th minute, Brad Schluter converted a penalty kick. Then, in the 81st minute, Tyler Gumbert hit a ball straight on net towards Owens goalkeeper Ryan Wicher (Whitmer/Toledo, Ohio). The ball took a funky hop and bounced over Wicher's head for an insurance goal.

Jarrar's goal was his fourth of the season, while the assist for Combs was his team-high sixth of the year. Jarrar has both of the goals vs Cincinnati State this year for Owens.

Owens fell to 4-2-1 with the loss today, and both of the losses have come to Cincinnati State, who improved to 6-2 this year with the win.

Owens will back in action on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. matchup at home with Cuyahoga Community College.
