Toledo, Ohio---Facing a 2-0 deficit just 23 seconds into the second half, the Owens Community College men's soccer team scored four unanswered goals to stave off Cuyahoga Community College's upset bid in a 4-2 win at home today.

Bjion Campbell (Coconut Creek/Margate, Fla.) had an early chance to put Owens up just 13 seconds into the match, but his shot sailed high. It would mark a major storyline from today's match as Owens out-shot Cuyahoga 31-12, but trailed as late as the 78th minute.

Mile Jeremic devlivered a header past Owens goalkeeper Ryan Wicher (Whitmer/Toledo, Ohio) at the 39:40 mark to give Cuyahoga a 1-0 lead. Then, just 23 seconds into the second half, Owens turned the ball over deep in their own territory. Jeremic stole the ball and delivered a short forward pass to Tevin Williams, who punched it into the right side of the net with his right foot.

Later, after missing several scoring opportunities, Owens got on the board as Campbell crossed a ball from the left to Matt Almester (St. John's Jesuit/Toledo, Ohio), who pushed it past Cuyahoga's goalkeeper John Paul Duff to make it 2-1 at the 59 minute mark.

Then, in the 66th minute, Almester had a chance to tie the game on a penalty kick, but he blasted the ball off the center of the crossbar and Owens remained down by one. Owens had received the penalty kick after Austin Combs (Anthony Wayne/Maumee, Ohio) was taken down in the box by Duff.

Next, in the 78th minute, Owens was the beneficiary of back-to-back fouls on Cuyahoga in scoring territory. Campbell took the second free kick and delivered a ball to Nathan Francis (Lake/Walbridge, Ohio), who headed it in the goal to tie it up.

Four minutes later, Agustin Bonjour (Purificacion No. 28/Montevideo, Uruguay) delivered a great pass via a throw-in to Ahmad Jarrar (Hendersonville/Hendersonville, N.C.), who headed the ball into the top left corner of the net for the lead.

In the game's final minute, Almester broke free and received a pass from Cooper Huslig (Mountain View/Tucson, Ariz.) and put the game away with his second goal of the game.

Just before the 70 minute mark, Jeremiah Carsten replaced Duff in goal. Duff allowed just the first goal by Owens and made eight saves.

Wicher, meanwhile, made five saves for Owens, including a fantastic diving save to his left late in the second half.

Among the 31-12 shot advantage for Owens was a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal. Almester (8), Combs (6), Jarrar and Campbell (5) all had at least five shots in the game, although only eight of those were on goal.

Almester now has a team-high eight goals this year, while Jarrar scored his fifth and Francis scored his second. With his two assists, Campbell has tied Combs for the team-high with six. Bonjour's assist was his second of the season. Huslig's assist was the first of his career.

Owens (5-2-1) will be back in action on Friday with a tough road matchup against Ancilla College beginning at 1 p.m.
