Benton Harbor, Mich.---The Owens Community College men's soccer team survived a late rally from Lake Michigan College to capture a 3-2 win in overtime.

Owens produced goals from Trae Green (Blessed Pope John Paul II C.S.S./Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) and Matt Almester (St. John's Jesuit/Toledo, Ohio) in the first half.

With eight minutes remaining, Owens still led by two, but Lake Michigan scored twice in that span to tie it up. The game tying goal came on a penalty kick.

Almester, however, scored his second goal of the game just two minutes into overtime to seal the deal for Owens.

Ahmad Jarrar (Hendersonville/Hendersonville, N.C.) assisted on the first goal, while Green assisted on Almester's first goal. The game-winner was unassisted.

Ryan Wicher (Whitmer/Toledo, Ohio) started in goal and played the whole game. He made six saves.

Almester now has a team-high 10 goals this year, while Green's goal was his third of the season. Jarrar picked up his fourth assist of the season, while Green's assist was his first of the season.

Owens is now 6-4-1 overall, and they will take on Muskegon Community College at 1 p.m. tomorrow on the road.
