Muskegon, Mich.---Ian Richey (Kalida/Kalida, Ohio) scored his first collegiate goal in the 88th minute to give the Owens Community College men's soccer team a 2-1 road win over Muskegon Community College.

An early goal from Muskegon gave them a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the game and they took the lead into the half.

In the first half, however, Owens lost two players. Agustin Bonjour (Purificacion No. 28/Montevideo, Uruguay) picked up two yellow cards, while Matt Almester (St. John's Jesuit/Toledo, Ohio) picked up a red card. Thus, Owens had to play the final 55 minutes with nine players and the 15th to 35th minute with 10 players.

No worries, though. Ahmad Jarrar (Hendersonville/Hendersonville, N.C.) answered back for Owens in the 49th minute to tie the game. His goal came on an assist from Trae Green (Blessed Pope John Paul II C.S.S./Scarborough, Ontario, Canada).

The goal was Jarrar's sixth of the season, while the assist was Green's second of the year.

Later, after having to substitute players every five minutes due to being two players down, Richey took a pass from Bjion Campbell (Coconut Creek/Margate, Fla.) in the 88th minute and deposited it into the net for the victory.

While it was Richey's first goal of the season, the assist by Campbell was his team-high seventh of the season.

Ryan Wicher (Whitmer/Toledo, Ohio) played the entire game in goal for Owens.

Due to the circumstances of having to play two men down for much of the game and scoring twice with a two man disadvantage, head coach Art Johnson called the win "the greatest of his career." His players doused him with the ice bucket following the win.

Owens improved to 7-4-1 with the win. Furthermore, they improved to 6-4 in Region XII play and strengthened the hold on fourth place in the region standings, which would allow them to host a quarterfinal game in the postseason tournament.

Owens will host Lakeland Community College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the Owens Soccer Complex.

Notes

Today's win was the second of the season over Muskegon for Owens, and both came in similar fashion. The first win came on a goal in the 89th minute.

Muskegon fell to 2-13 overall and 2-9 in Region XII play, although today was their eighth loss by one goal.
