Second Half Flurry Pushes Owens Past Mercyhurst North East 6-1

North East, Penn.---Matt Almester (St. John's Jesuit/Toledo, Ohio) and Bjion Campbell (Coconut Creek/Margate, Fla.) each scored twice to help the Owens Community College men's soccer team net five second half goals in a 6-1 win over Mercyhurst North East Community College on the road today.

Almester scored the game's only first half goal via a penalty kick at the 20th minute. Then, in the 74th minute, the redshirt freshman forward scored again, this time on an assist from Campbell, to put his team up 2-0.

Following that, Campbell scored back-to-back goals in the 76th and 80th minutes to seal the game. Agustin Bonjour (Purificacion No. 28/Montevideo, Uruguay) and Ahmad Jarrar (Hendersonville/Hendersonville, N.C.) had the two assists.

Aaron Elledge (Canyon del Oro/Tucson, Ariz.) and Jarrar scored in the 86th and 87th minutes to make it 6-0 as Jarrar assisted Elledge's goal and Jamison Foos (Norwalk/Norwalk, Ohio) assisted on Jarrar's goal.

Mercyhurst North East prevented the shutout with a penalty kick goal in the 88th minute.

Ryan Wicher (Whitmer/Toledo, Ohio) started in goal for Owens and recorded six saves over 77 minutes. Talal Farhan (Whitmer/Toledo, Ohio) relieved him for the other 13 minutes.

Owens (9-5-1) will hit the road once again for their next match to take on Cuyahoga Community College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Notes

Almester pushed his team-high goal total to 13. He also leads the team with 29 points.

Campbell's two goals pushes his season total to five, while his assist increases his team-high total to nine. He now has 17 goals and 13 assists in his career.

Jarrar now has nine goals and eight assists this year. His goal total is second on the team, and his 26 points is also good for second. He is just one goal away from having at least 20 career goals and 10 career assists.

Elledge's goal was his second of the season and first since Sept. 6 vs Lake Michigan College.

Bonjour bumped his season assist total to three and career total to seven. Foos picked up his first career assist.
