Toledo, Ohio---An 11-minute stretch in the first half proved to be the downfall for the Owens Community College men's soccer team in a 3-0 loss at home to Parkland College today.

At the 20:26 mark, Parkland created an offensive opportunity in front of the Owens net, and it resulted in an own goal. Six minutes later, Jonathan Iukusu took a pass from Salar Samimi for a two goal lead. Then, in the 31st minute, those two connected again, but this time Samimi finished off a pass from Iukusu.

In the first half, Owens had a golden chance from Maxwell Ejiogu (Beauchamps/Wickford, Essex, U.K.), but Parkland's goalkeeper, Matt Sharman, made a diving stop to his right to prevent a goal.

Owens had other chances throughout, but failed to capitalize. Several opportunities were thwarted by non-goalkeeper saves from Parkland.

For Owens, Ejiogu produced a team-high two shots on goal. Trae Green (Blessed Pope John Paul II C.S.S./Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) also created two shots with one going on goal.

In net, Kyle Rowan (Perrysburg/Perrysburg, Ohio) made nine saves for Owens, while Sharman made eight for Parkland.

Owens was without the services of Cooper Huslig (Mountain View/Tucson, Arizona) in the game after he received a red card on Saturday.

Following today's game, Owens is now 0-2 this year. They will begin a tough five game road stretch beginning Wednesday at Jackson College at 4 p.m. Following that, they will take on Cuyahoga, Ancilla, Morton College and Lakeland before returning home Sept. 19 for a three game home stand.
