Cleveland, Ohio---Reiss Liggitt (Seminole/Birmingham, England) and Akeem McCarthy (Cornwall College/Montego Bay, Jamaica) each scored twice as the Owens Community College men's soccer team produced its second straight shutout with a 5-0 road win over Cuyahoga Community College tonight.

Liggitt, a sophomore midfielder, got things started with a chip over the goalkeeper's reach just over 10 minutes into the game. McCarthy made it a two-goal lead with just under seven minutes left in the half with a goal from just over 20 yards out. It was the first collegiate goal for the freshman midfielder.

Liggitt scored his second goal less than a minute later.

In the second half, Trae Green (Blessed Pope John Paul II C.S.S./Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) took a through ball from Matt Almester (St. John's Jesuit/Rossford, Ohio) seven minutes in before McCarthy closed the scoring with a shot from the PK spot on a cross from Josiah McCloud (Monclova Christian/Toledo, Ohio) six minutes later.

Michael Dingwall (Riverdale/Lehigh Acres, Fla.), Liggitt and Green each added first half assists.

Kyle Rowan (Perrysburg/Perrysburg, Ohio), who was named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) defensive player of the week earlier in the day, produced his second straight shutout in goal. He made three saves.

John Paul Duff saved 13 shots in goal for Cuyahoga, who were peppered by 18 shots on goal from Owens. Almester had eight shots saved by Duff.

Owens is now 2-2 this year and 1-1 in OCCAC play with the win. The team will travel to Ancilla College and Morton College for a pair of tough matchups this weekend.
