Toledo, Ohio---The Owens Community College men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 16 Cincinnati State Technical and Community College last night.

In the first minute, Cincinnati State took a 1-0 lead with a goal from their leading scorer, as well as the nation's second leading goal scorer, Mohamed Thiaw.

Thiaw added his second goal of the game six minutes into the half to give his team some cushion.

Matt Almester (St. John's Jesuit/Rossford, Ohio) scored the lone goal for Owens via a penalty kick in the 89th minute, but not before Zane Ross gave Cincinnati State a three goal lead in the 81st minute.

Omar Walcott assisted on Thiaw's two goals, while Thiaw assisted on the goal from Ross.

Almester's goal was his eighth of the season, which leads the team. He has scored both of the team's goals against Cincinnati State this year.

Owens is now 4-7 overall and 2-2 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play. They will hit the road this weekend for matches against Muskegon Community College and Lake Michigan College on Saturday and Sunday. Following that, the team returns home for a five game home stand.

Cincinnati State improved to 7-1-2 overall and 4-0 in OCCAC play with the win. They captured at least a share of the OCCAC championship last night, as well.
