Owens, No. 10 Schoolcraft Battle To Scoreless Tie In Double Overtime

Livonia, Mich.---The Owens Community College men's soccer team tied No. 10 Schoolcraft College 0-0 in double overtime on the road today.

Owens produced 22 total shots compared to 21 for Schoolcraft, while they also out-produced them in shots in goal, 10-8. 

Matt Almester (St. John's Jesuit/Rossford, Ohio), Trae Green (Blessed Pope John Paul C.S.S./Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) and Michael Dingwall (Riverdale/Lehigh Acres, Fla.) each had four total shots to lead Owens. Dingwall had a team-high three shots on goal.

For Schoolcraft, Jon Quintana led the way with six total shots (three on goal).

In goal, Kyle Rowan (Perrysburg/Perrysburg, Ohio) made eight saves in goal for Owens, while Andres Hernandez made 10 saves for Schoolcraft.

Owens is now 11-7-1 overall and 9-5-1 in Region XII play, while Schoolcraft is 12-2-2 overall and 11-2-2 in Region XII play. Owens will close out its regular season on Saturday at home against Muskegon Community College at 3 p.m.

Notes

Today was the sixth overtime match of the season for Owens, and they are 2-3-1 in them. However, they are 2-0-1 in the past three and now have an overall eight match unbeaten streak.

Almester was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I men's soccer player of the week earlier in the day.
