2010-11: Barron started eight games for the Express last year as the back up to Matea Rice at first base and as a pinch runner. She finished with a .357 batting average while seeing action in 27 games. In 28 at bats, Barron accumulated 15 runs, nine RBI, two doubles, four walks, five stolen bases, three hit by pitches and three sacrifice bunts. Her top game was a 3-for-3 performance against Grand Rapids on April 21 where she had two runs and two RBIs. She only struck out once all season. Defensively, she made 74 put outs at first base with one assist and zero errors. Her greatest personal sports thrill is last year’s national runner up performance for the Express softball team.

Prior to Owens: At Jefferson, Barron was a four-year varsity player in softball and three year varsity athlete in basketball. In basketball, she was named Second Team All-Huron League. In softball, under the tutelage of Jeff Barron, she was First Team All-Huron League, First Team All-District, and First Team All-Region her senior year, while being named Honorable Mention All-District her junior year. In addition, she received the four-year varsity award. Barron was named to the Academic All-Huron League team, and she lists her greatest personal high school sports thrill as beating Jefferson’s rival, Milan, in a 14 inning game.

Personal: Sydney is the daughter of Jeff and Ronda Barron. She is a pre-dental hygiene major at Owens.
