Maumee's Fowls Inks With Express Softball Program

Toledo, Ohio---Samantha Fowls, a senior pitcher at Maumee High School, has signed to play softball at Owens Community College next year.

As a junior, she finished fifth in the Northern Lakes League (NLL) with a 3.26 ERA. She added 139 strikeouts in 118 innings pitched while totaling a 12-7 record.

Offensively, she hit .395 with two home runs, 22 RBIs and seven stolen bases.

In terms of awards, Fowls was a First Team All-NLL selection as a sophomore and junior, as well as a Second Team All-District selection as a junior. She was also the homecoming queen earlier this year.

Fowls will join her former teammate, Kendall Murphy, on next year's team. Murphy and the 2014 Express softball team are off to a 6-0 start.

Fowls also joins Lauren Yates of Springfield High School as one of the first two signees in the 2014-15 Owens softball freshmen class.
