Waterford, Mich.---The Owens Community College softball team suffered its first doubleheader sweep since March 21 on the road against Oakland Community College today.

Game 1: Oakland 3 Owens 1

Lexi Williams (Home School/Swanton, Ohio) tossed a complete game, but it wasn't enough as the Owens offense sputtered in a 3-1 loss in today's first game.

After the game's first nine batters were retired in order, Oakland struck first in the bottom of the second as Brittany Cun's RBI single with one out put her team up 1-0.

In the fourth, Brittany George (Elmwood/Wayne, Ohio) singled up the middle to lead off the inning. Two outs later, she was on third when Emily Young (Maumee/Maumee, Ohio) doubled to right center to tie the game.

Oakland, however, added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 3-1 lead. Both runs came on two-out base hits.

In the sixth and seventh innings, Owens had scoring opportunities. Jacey Gray (Springfield/Holland, Ohio) singled with two outs in the sixth and stole second, but she was stranded. In the seventh, Cassidy Rolf (Eastwood/Pemberville, Ohio) doubled to right with two outs, but a line drive back to the pitcher by Katelyn Jensen (Genoa/Genoa, Ohio) ended the game.

Williams fell to 10-4 this year with the loss. She allowed six hits and three walks over six innings, while striking out four.

Mackenzie Norton picked up the win for Oakland. She allowed four hits and zero walks, while striking out three over seven innings.

Game 2: Oakland 15 Owens 4 (Five Innings)

Oakland exploded for 14 runs over the first three innings to hand Owens a 15-4 loss in today's second game.

Sam Fowls (Maumee/Maumee, Ohio) started in the circle for Owens. She fell to 3-7 this year after a final line that included 1.1 innings, six hits, nine runs and four walks.

Christina Huffman (Monroe/Monroe, Mich.) relieved her in the middle of the second in what was her first pitching appearance since March 8. She went the final 2.2 innings and allowed eight hits, six runs and one walk. She struck out three.

Tori Weidinger (Whitmer/Toledo, Ohio) led Owens offensively. The sophomore first baseman finished 2-for-2 with an RBI. Six others picked up one hit apiece.
