Toledo, Ohio---Tori Weidinger (Whitmer/Toledo, Ohio), a sophomore first baseman for the Owens Community College softball team, earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Second Team All-American honors as the NFCA announced postseason honors today.

Weidinger, the first NFCA All-American in program history, was also named to the NFCA All-East Region team with her teammates Jacey Gray (Springfield/Holland, Ohio) and Makayla Burtscher (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.).

Weidinger closed a powerful two-year career by batting 58-for-145 (.400) as a sophomore with 20 runs, 14 doubles, 12 home runs, 55 RBI, 17 walks and four stolen bases. She posted a .462 on base percentage, a .745 slugging percentage, broke the program's single season and career RBI records and finished second in career homers.

In Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play, she went 13-for-38 (.342) with five runs, one double, five home runs, 15 RBI, three walks and one stolen base. She led the league in home runs and RBI.

In the postseason, she totaled 14 RBI, including a key three-run home run in the Region XII District I tournament, which helped her earn all-tourney team recognition. She is the only player in program history with 100 or more career RBI and only the second player with 20 or more career home runs.

Gray, who was previously named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Third Team All-American, batted 74-for-158 (.468) with 56 runs, seven doubles, 26 RBI, 14 walks and a team-high 50 stolen bases. She finished tied for third in the nation in stolen bases.

The Owens softball team recently completed its 2015 season with a 32-18 overall record. Along the way, the team captured OCCAC and Region XII District I championships. The team's season concluded in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament, where they finished in the top 12 in the nation. On March 25, the team captured the program's 500th win.
