Gray, Minarchick Garner Conference Player, Pitcher of the Week Awards In Softball

Owens Community College student-athletes Jacey Gray (Springfield/Holland, Ohio) and Kailey Minarchick (Columbia Station/Columbia Station, Ohio) have been named this week's Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) player and pitcher of the week recipients in softball, respectively.

Gray, a sophomore outfielder, hit .450 over six conference games last week while adding 10 runs, two triples, seven RBI, three walks and nine stolen bases. She is now hitting .552 overall this year with one double, two triples, 14 RBI, 10 walks and 35 stolen bases.

Minarchick, a freshman right-handed pitcher, went 4-0 last week with one save while posting a 0.80 ERA over five appearances. In 26.1 innings pitched, she allowed just 31 hits and four walks while striking out 20. Overall this year, she is now 11-6 with three saves while posting a 1.53 ERA and striking out 100 over 105 innings pitched.

Owens (21-10 overall, 6-0 OCCAC) will hit the road this Wednesday to take on Lakeland Community College beginning at 3:30 p.m.

With the awards today, Owens has now swept all five weekly conference awards this week. Casey Gose (Genoa/Genoa, Ohio) won the OCCAC baseball player of the week award. Grant Peters (Eastwood/Pemberville, Ohio) was named the OCCAC baseball pitcher of the week. Dominic DiGiacomo (Ocean City/Ocean City, N.J.) was named the OCCAC golfer of the week.
