Owens Signs Four for Next Season

Toledo, OH -- With under a year left till the program's return, the Owens Softball program under the tutelage of Jeff Hankins has been hard at work gathering players for spring of 2019. Hankins has been criss-crossing the area and neighboring states looking for the best talent he can find. 

The program has recently signed four players for next season and the program is very excited about the talent and character each girl brings to the program.

Sarah Hossler is from Old Fort High School. She is currently a pitcher and also plays first base for the Stockaders. She intends to participate in Owens's dental program. She was a member of the First Team All-Sandusky Bay Conference member last season. Her parents are Brad and Jennifer Hossler.

Kristin Zink is from Lake High School just down the road from Owens in Millbury. She plays both first and third for the Flyers. She is currently the Flyers all time home run leader through her first three years of high school with a total of twelve. She has been named to the Second Team All-District twice and she has also been an Honorable Mention All-State. She plans to major in psychology during her Express career. Her parents are Jeremy and Krisitin Zink and she has a brother Brandon. 

Madison Hornung hails from Vassar, Michigan where she plays in the outfield and is a pitcher for Vassar High School. She has been a member of the First Team All-Conference and All-District. She also has been on the All-Region Team in Northeast Michigan. Her parents are Brandon and Nicole Hornung. She also has two siblings in Rian and Jackson. Madison intends to major in nursing while at Owens.

Finally, we head west to Fort Wayne, Indiana for our last signing. Mariah Perez, of Concordia High School, is a pitcher and also plays second base. She has been a First Team All-SAC pitcher twice in 2015 and 2017. She was a member of the All-SAC Second Team as a pitcher in 2016. She has been named Concordia's Pitcher of the Year and she also participated in the North-South All Star Game as well. She won the Golden Glove Award in 2016 and she has been nominated for the Indiana Top 100 Crossroads too. Her parents are Michael and Andrea Perez and Mariah plans to major in Physical Therapy during her college career.
