Bill Bonham spent one season as an assistant coach with the Owens softball staff, but was a key leader during a season in which the program captured its third straight conference championship.

In 2016, Owens finished 26-14 overall and 10-2 in conference play to captured its third straight title. The team advanced to the Region XII tournament loser's bracket semifinals before falling to Kellogg in eight innings. Freshman pitcher Kailey Minarchick was named the OCCAC Pitcher of the Year after posting a 7-0 record with a 1.00 ERA.

Entering the fall of 2016, Bonham is also still an assistant coach with the Owens women's volleyball program, where he helped lead the team to conference and regional championships in 2015.

Bonham has worked with the Fremont Ross program, but more importantly, he has studied the game under well known fastpitch coach Jerry Hassinger of Mohawk and Seneca East.

Furthermore, Bonham coached high school baseball at Buckeye Central, where the team won the district championship twice and reached the regional finals once. Most recently, he coached at Tiffin Columbian, his alma mater, where he coached under his former Columbian teammate, Curt Mellott.

Bonham, who holds umpire certifications for OHSAA baseball and USSSA softball, has spent his entire life on the ball diamond. After his playing days were done, he has spent the last 25 years playing slow pitch softball all around Ohio.

Bonham is also a certified USA, OHSAA and PAVO official and line judge. He graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in Tiffin, Ohio in 1994. Following that, he attended Heidelberg University for two years before graduating from the OPOTA Police Academy at Terra Community College. He has been a volunteer firefighter since 1997.

Bonham is married to his wife, Amie, and he has two dogs - Captain and Oscar.
