The team advanced to the Region XII District I loser's bracket semifinals before falling in eight innings to Kellogg. The team featured the OCCAC Pitcher of the Year Kailey Minarchick.

In addition to Minarchick's award, Smith captured his second straight OCCAC Coach of the Year award and four others alos earned All-OCCAC recognition - Cassidy Rolf, Ericca Herzog, Jacey Gray and Miranda Benschoter.

In the spring of 2015, Smith led the program to its third Region XII District I championship in program history, and the team went on to finish in the top 12 at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. In 2007, Smith coached Northwest Christian Academy to a 33-5 record and a 2A Arizona state championship. In 2006, he was an assistant coach at the University of St. Thomas (Minn.), when the team was the NCAA Division III national runner-up.
