Mitchell and Hall Notch Double-Doubles in Win Over Ashland JV

Ashland, OH---The No. 13 Owens Express women's basketball team routed Ashland University Club 101-73 Friday night on the road behind double-doubles from Uniqua Mitchell (Martin Luther King/Detroit, Mich.) and Aja Hall (Fostoria/Fostoria, Ohio).

Mitchell, a freshman point guard, had her best game of the season with 24 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and six blocks. She finished 10-for-17 from the field overall and 4-for-5 from three point range. Hall had 24 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. The sophomore now has 587 career points and is now 24th on the career scoring list at Owens.

Emma-Jean Ricketts (Anthony Wayne/Waterville, Ohio) added 21 points and eight rebounds, while Hailey Galvan (Archbold/Archbold, Ohio), despite being limited to 12 minutes by foul trouble, had 10 points, three rebounds and two blocks. Mackenzie Heacock (Arlington/Arlington, Ohio) had nine points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Kieona Foster (Shawnee/Lima, Ohio) hit double figures in rebounding as she totaled five points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Owens shot 40-for-90 (44.4%) overall from the field, while Ashland shot 27-for-75 (36%). The Express outrebounded Ashland 69-38, while also out-assisting them 23-8.

Owens (4-1) will now play Mott Community College on Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the SHAC.
