Express Women Lose In OT to Sinclair Despite Karahn Scott's 18 Points, 19 Rebounds

Toledo, OH---The No. 7 Express women's basketball team lost to Sinclair Community College 92-88 in OT tonight to end their season at 25-6.

Hailey Galvan hit a deep two to tie the game late in regulation, and then she blocked a shot at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

Karahn Scott paced the Express throughout as she finished with season-highs in points (18) and rebounds (19). Eight of her rebounds came on the offensive end.

The Express were down 44-33 at the half, and trailed until Galvan's shot. The Tartan Pride led by as many as 15 with 5:11 remaining in the first half.

Uniqua Mitchell added 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Aja Hall had 15 points and nine rebounds.

Emma-Jean Ricketts also added 12 points and six rebounds, and Mackenzie Heacock had 10 points off the bench.

Owens struggled to shoot the ball as they finished 35-for-95 from the field overall - including a 4-for-26 performance from three point range. They were 14-for-20 from the foul line.

Meanwhile, Sinclair shot 32-for-74 overall, 8-for-23 from three point range and 20-for-32 from the foul line.

The Express outrebounded Sinclair 65-40, but had more turnovers (19-14) and less steals (7-10). Owens also had more points in the paint (58-34) and second chance points (17-6).

The game featured seven ties, eight lead changes and three foul outs. Ricketts and Kieona Foster fouled out for Owens and Danielle Forrer fouled out for Sinclair.

Foster finished with eight points, six rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals in her final game for the Express.

India Taste led Sinclair with 25 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists, while Katie Von Lehmden added 22 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Riley Weng (14), Brandi McDaniel (13) and Forrer (10) also scored in double figures.

Sinclair advances to the Region XII District I championship game tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the SHAC against Cincinnati State (30-1).

Notes

- Hall became only the second Owens women's basketball player to eclipse 1,000 career points in her final game. She finishes her Owens career with 1,010 points, which is second only to Amy Amstutz (1,198 points).

- Galvan finishes her season with 132 blocks, which breaks the single season block record. She finished with 234 career blocks, which is 13 shy of the career record held by Stephanie Galant.
