Ricketts, Bond Help Express Women Escape With 73-68 Win Over Miami Dade

Miami, FL---Emma-Jean Ricketts and Jordyn Bond helped the Express women's basketball team defeat Miami Dade College 73-68 on Saturday.

The Express led by as many as 22 points with 16:52 remaining in the game, but 23 second half turnovers helped Miami Dade battle back to make it close.

Ricketts finished with 18 points and six rebounds on 7-for-13 shooting from the field.

Bond, who started in place of the injured Karahn Scott, produced 13 points, 11 rebounds, three steals, three blocks and two assists. She finished 5-for-10 from the field in 27 minutes. She led the team in rebounds, steals and blocks.

Additionally, Bond had season highs in points, rebounds, steals, assists and blocks.

Nandi Taylor had a solid all-around game statistically with 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Breonna House had 10 points, three rebounds and one assist off the bench.

House made some crucial free throws (4-for-4) down the stretch, while Mackenzie Heacock's nine point game was highlighted by a few clutch shots late.

A solid team performance from the foul line (11-for-13) helped the Express maintain control, and they had their second best field goal percentage (28-for-57, 49.1 percent) this season.

Meanwhile, Miami Dade finished 26-for-94 (27.7 percent) overall from the field, 0-for-18 from 3-point range and 16-for-25 from the foul line. They were 15-for-20 from the foul line in the second half.

The Express improved to 9-3 overall this year. They will travel to Palm Beach, Fla. on Sunday for a 2 p.m. game against ASA College (6-1) out of Brooklyn, NY.

Notes

With her 18 points tonight, Ricketts is on the verge of becoming only the 24th Express women's basketball player to score 600 career points. She sits at 595.

Mitchell eclipsed 500 career points tonight. She becomes one of only 33 players to achieve that.
