Scott Secures Single Game Rebounding Record In 89-46 Win Over Mid-Michigan

Toledo, OH---Karahn Scott's 21 points and 21 rebounds led the Express women's basketball team past Mid-Michigan Community College 89-46 in the SHAC today.

The 21 rebounds ties a school record also held by four other people - most recently Brittany Darling in the 2009-10 season.

Scott led five players in double figures as she finished 8-for-15 from the field and 5-for-6 from the foul line, and she also added four steals and three assists. Nine of her 21 rebounds came on the offensive glass.

Her 21 points was a career-high, and her previous single game rebounding high this year was 13 against Mott on Dec. 5. Her previous career high was 19, which she got against Sinclair in the team's final game last year.

Mid-Michigan scored the first seven points of the game before the Express went on an 18-0 run to take early control. Then, the Express stretched the lead to 30-14 with 6:21 remaining in the half before ultimately leading 43-22 at the break.

Eboni Adams and Jordyn Bond each added season-highs in points. Adams finished with 18 points, five rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.

Meanwhile, Jordyn Bond scored 16 points off the bench, along with producing 11 rebounds, a team-high five steals, a team-high four blocks and two assists.

The Express shot 36-for-82 (43.9 percent) overall from the field and 5-for-22 (22.7 percent) from 3-point range. They were 12-for-16 from the foul line. Meanwhile, Mid-Michigan finished 20-for-67 from the field overall, 3-for-19 from 3-point range and 3-for-8 from the foul line.

The Express finished with 14 turnovers, which was one off their season low for a game.

Mackenzie Heacock was third on the fourth on the team in scoring with 12 points, and she added a monster blocked shot late in the game.

Emma-Jean Ricketts nearly had the team's third double-double as she finished with 10 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, one assist and one steal.

Despite not scoring, Danielle Bezeau added a team-high six assists.

As a team, the Express pulled down 55 rebounds compared to 44 for Mid-Michigan. Every player for the Express grabbed at least one offensive rebound, as well.

Alex Barnwell led Mid-Michigan with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Kessey Beno had 10 points.

The Express (11-5) will travel to Battle Creek, MI on Dec. 29 to take on Kellogg Community College at 1 p.m. before opening up OCCAC play on Jan. 12.
