Heacock (19 Points) Leads Express Women In 76-41 Win Over Cuyahoga

Cleveland, OH---Mackenzie Heacock scored a season-high 19 points to lead the Express women's basketball team past Cuyahoga Community College 76-41 tonight.

The sophomore finished 7-for-11 overall from the field and 5-for-7 from 3-point range. She did not attempt a free throw. Her first 15 points came on 3-pointers, while her final four points came on lay-ups.

The Express led 20-14 with seven minutes remaining in the first half before holding Cuyahoga down until late in the first half. During that time, they stretched that six point lead to 35-16 with 1:35 remaining.

In the second half, the Express stretched their lead to as much as 35.

Emma-Jean Ricketts and Breonna House each added 13 points, Ricketts added nine rebounds. Karahn Scott had 10 points, nine rebounds and five steals.

Jordyn Bond pitched in six points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Danielle Bezeau had a team-high seven assists, while Eboni Adams had five assists off the bench.

Darika Mahone led Cuyahoga with 19 points. She was the only player to score in double figures.

The Express shot 30-for-73 (41.1 percent) from the field overall, 8-for-22 (36.4 percent) from 3-point range and 8-for-16 from the foul line. Cuyahoga finished 18-for-59 (30.5 percent), 2-for-10 (20 percent) from 3-point range and 3-for-10 (30 percent) from the foul line.

The Express also out-rebounded Cuyahoga 51-39, and out-produced them in points off turnovers 25-11, second chance points (16-2), bench points (26-7) and points in the paint (38-24).

The Express improved to 14-5 overall and 2-0 in the OCCAC. They will travel to Cincinnati on Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup against Cincinnati State Community College.

Notes

With her 13 points tonight, Ricketts became only the 16th Express women's basketball player to eclipse 700 career points. She now sits at 701.

Heacock now has 409 career points as she eclipsed the 400 point mark with her 19 points tonight.
