Carter (25 Pts), Wright (11 Assists), Tunstall (10 Reb) Lead No. 9 Express Women Past Wayne County 90-61

Detroit, Mich.---Kamilah Carter (Pioneer/Ann Arbor, Mich.), Paige Wright (Northrop/Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Ashley Tunstall (Wayne/Huber Heights, Ohio) led the No. 9 Express women's basketball team past Wayne County Community College 90-61 on Monday.

That trio combined for 47 points, 19 rebounds, 16 assists and four steals, while shooting 16-for-29 from the field.

Carter led the way with a game-high 25 points, four rebounds and three assists. She finished 9-for-13 overall from the field, 4-for-6 from 3-point range and 3-for-3 from the foul line. In the season's first three games, the sophomore guard is averaging 22 points per game.

Wright had a game-high 11 assists, along with 12 points and five rebounds, while Tunstall had a game-high 10 rebounds, along with 10 points, a team-high three steals and two assists.

The Express only led 18-13 with 10:47 remaining before going on an 11-3 run over the next three minutes. Over the half's final 10:47, they led a 37-14 surge to take a 55-27 lead at halftime.

In that first half, the Express shot 19-for-35 (54.3 percent) overall, 10-for-15 (66.7 percent) from 3-point range and 7-for-10 (70 percent) from the foul line.

Wayne County didn't give up as they knocked the Express lead down to 18 with 12:39 remaining. The closest they would get, however, would be 17 with 11:11 left - despite a three minute stretch with less than 10 minutes left in the game where the Express didn't score.

Eboni Adams (Maple Heights/Cleveland, Ohio) continued her fine start to the season with 15 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal. The sophomore guard finished 6-for-11 from the field, 2-for-3 from 3-point range and 1-for-3 from the foul line. She led the team with four offensive rebounds.

LaKayra Carlisle (Pershing/Detroit, Mich.) nearly hit double figures in scoring with nine, while adding six rebounds.

Shantanique Tolbert led Wayne County with 18 points and eight rebounds in 17 minutes of play before fouling out.

The Express (2-1) have now won two straight and will take on Mercyhurst North East Community College on Friday at 6 p.m. in the SHAC as part of the Owens Tip Off Classic. They will then battle No. 10 Monroe College (NY) on Saturday at 6 p.m.
