Carter, Adams Lead No. 9 Express Women to 68-56 Road Win over Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids, Mich.---Kamilah Carter (Pioneer/Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Eboni Adams (Maple Heights/Cleveland, Ohio) combined for 35 points to lead the No. 9 Express women's basketball team to their fifth straight win, 68-56 over Grand Rapids Community College.

Carter, who is the reigning conference player of the week in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) hit Grand Rapids up for 18 points on 7-for-16 shooting, including a 2-for-6 performance from 3-point range. She was 2-for-3 from the foul line, and had 14 of her points in the first half.

Meanwhile, Adams finished with 17 points on 6-for-13 shooting (2-for-3 from 3-point range). She was 3-for-3 from the foul line. She has hit double-figures in scoring in all but one game this year.

The Express led 31-22 at halftime before narrowly outscoring Grand Rapids 37-34 in the second half. The Express also held advantages in paint points (34-24) and bench points (12-8).

Paige Wright (Northrop/Fort Wayne, Ind.) added 11 points, five rebounds and five assists, while her and Adams each tied for the team-high in assists. Wright had all 11 of her points in the second half, while Adams had 12 of her points in the second half. That duo combined for shoot 8-for-14 in the second half, including 3-for-6 from 3-point range.

Ashley Tunstall (Wayne/Huber Heights, Ohio) added eight points, seven rebounds and a team-high three steals before fouling out in 28 minutes of action.

Grand Rapids was led by Danielle Harrison, who had 15 points and seven rebounds, while Hanna Lahiff (12), Stephanie Stevens (11) and Sara Karamol (10) also contributed in scoring.

The Express (5-1) will host No. 18 Lake Michigan College in the SHAC on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
