Springfield, Ohio---Aysah Ingram (Trotwood-Madison/Dayton, Ohio) and Jeryn Reese (Mansfield/Mansfield, Ohio) came up big for the No. 11 Owens Community College women's basketball team in a 70-54 win over Clark State Community College on the road this afternoon.

As a team, Owens finished 0-for-12 from 3-point range. It was the program's first game without a made 3-point field goal in at least five years. However, the combination of Ingram and Reese helped Owens overcome that.

Ingram totaled 17 points, 21 rebounds and two assists, while Reese had a game-high 20 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. The duo combined to shoot 15-for-33 from the field and 6-for-11 from the foul line.

Owens started the game fast with back-to-back layups from Reese and Tatyana Reynolds (Rogers/Toledo, Ohio) before Clark State rallied to take a 7-6 lead.

Ingram and Briana Williams (Stebbins/Dayton, Ohio) then combined to make four straight free throws, followed by jumpers from Sybil Roseboro (Elyria/Elyria, Ohio) and Mekaila Grose (Madison/Mansfield, Ohio) to give Owens a 14-7 lead with 3:07 remaining in the first quarter.

Following a 7-2 run by Clark State, Owens closed the quarter with three straight points via a Reynolds layup and a Reese free throw.

Reese then opened the second quarter with three straight points to bump the lead to eight. Three minutes later, Ingram and Reese combined for eight straight points to give Owens a 34-20 lead.

Owens, however, only scored two points in the half's final four minutes and Clark State trailed by 12 entering the third.

In the second half, the duo of Ingram and Reese scored the first 10 points for Owens before Roseboro's layup stopped that streak and put Owens up 48-30.

Clark State closed the third quarter on a 7-2 run to trim the deficit to 16.

Neither team scored in the fourth quarter until Ingram hit a free throw with 7:35 left. Clark State was within 13 when Williams hit a jumper, followed by a jumper from Reese and another bucket from Williams to make it 64-45 with 2:56 left.

Roseboro and Williams scored the final eight points of the game for Owens.

Williams was the third Owens player in double figures with 12, while adding five assists, three rebounds and two steals. Roseboro added nine points and seven rebounds. Mikayla Ward (Huron/Ypsilanti, Mich.) had four points and seven rebounds (five offensive).

Lakyn Gulley (South Side/Fort Wayne, Ind.), who was held scoreless for the first time since the season opener, contributed in other areas and finished with nine assists, seven rebounds and four steals. Her rebound total tied her season-high.

Clark State, which fell to 6-10 overall with the loss, was led by Danesha Bryant with 15 points and eight rebounds. Anique Kinnebrew also had 11 points, while Alexandra Lee had 10 rebounds. DeKayla Hunter totaled nine points and nine rebounds, too.

Owens held advantages in points off turnovers (18-9), second chance points (27-14), points in the paint (52-20) and bench points (28-7). Clark State led only once, which came in the game's first three minutes.

Owens was hurt by a 31.2 percent field goal percentage and a 12-for-20 (60 percent) free throw shooting performance, but Clark State went 14-for-31 (45.2 percent) from the foul line and 17-for-63 (27 percent) from the field to assist Owens.

Owens is now 14-6 overall this year, and they will take a four game winning streak into next Wednesday's matchup against Lakeland Community College at 5:30 p.m.

Notes

Ingram now has three double-doubles in the team's past five games, as well as seven overall this year. She is averaging 14 rebounds per game over the past eight and has 11 games with at least 10 rebounds this year. This week, she averaged 18.5 points and 20 rebounds.

For the fourth straight game, Reese reached double digits in scoring. During that stretch, she is averaging 17.5 points and just under 15 rebounds per game. Three of those four games were double-doubles. Today was her ninth game this year with at least 10 rebounds.

Today's matchup with Clark State was the first meeting between the two teams since Feb. 23, 2008. Owens won that game 98-46. Clark State is back in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) this year on probationary status, which means today's game doesn't count towards the league standings - only on overall record.
