Reese Caps Regular Season With Fourth OCCAC Player of the Week Award

Toledo, Ohio---Jeryn Reese (Mansfield/Mansfield, Ohio), a freshman forward for the No. 7 Owens Community College women's basketball team, has been voted the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) player of the week for the fourth time this season.

Reese averaged 22.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and one assist while shooting 57.5 percent from the field this past week. In a 113-38 win over Lakeland Community College last Wednesday, she produced 18 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and one assist in only 19 minutes of action. She finished 7-for-16 from the field and 4-for-4 from the foul line in the game.

Then, in an 89-64 win over Cincinnati State Technical and Community College on Saturday, she had 27 points, 11 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 30 minutes. She finished 9-for-12 from the field and 9-for-11 from the foul line in that game.

In 29 games played for Owens this year, Reese has averaged 13.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.3 steals, 1.1 blocks and one assist per game. In 14 conference games, she has raised her averages to 16.1 points, 12.7 rebounds, 2.8 steals, 1.4 blocks and 1.2 assists per game.

Reese and Owens are currently 24-6 overall and finished 14-0 in conference play for the second consecutive season. She will lead her team into the Region XII District I semifinals on Friday at 1 p.m. against the winner of Tuesday's quarterfinal between No. 4 seed Columbus State Community College and No. 5 seed Sinclair Community College.

The semifinals and championship game will take place at Ohio Christian University in Circleville, Ohio. The winner advances to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament in Overland Park, Kansas. Owens is the defending champion, and they have won two of the past three championships.

Reese previously won the OCCAC player of the week award on Jan. 10, Jan. 24 and Feb. 14. She also won the NJCAA Division II player of the week award on Jan. 13.
