Toledo, Ohio---Owens Community College women's basketball sophomore forward Jeryn Reese (Mansfield/Mansfield, Ohio) has been named the first two-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American in program history, and head coach Michael Llanas was recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) for eclipsing 300 wins this past season.

Reese was named an NJCAA Second Team All-American for the second consecutive year. Prior to last year, the previous five NJCAA All-Americans from the Owens women's basketball program only captured the honor once. Including this honor, the NCAA Division I LaSalle University signee is also a two-time recipient of the following awards: First Team All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC), OCCAC player of the year, First Team All-Region XII and Region XII District I player of the year. She was named the Region XII District I tournament MVP and earned a spot on the NJCAA Division II All-National Tournament team as a freshman, and she garnered WBCA First Team All-American recognition as a sophomore.

As a sophomore, Reese averaged 13.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.7 assists and 1.3 blocks over 32 games. She led Owens to a 31-1 record in 2016-17 and helped the program achieve the first undefeated regular season in the college's athletics history. In her two seasons, the program won two OCCAC championships with a combined 30-0 record in conference play.

On top of all that, Reese closed her career with 920 points and 679 rebounds. She finished fifth on the program's career scoring list and her rebound total is the most in program history. She also chipped in 159 steals, 92 assists and 79 blocks in her career.

Llanas Named 2017 WBCA Victory Club Honoree

Owens head coach Michael Llanas, who just completed his 13th season in charge of the program, was one of 45 coaches across the high school and collegiate levels to be recognized by the WBCA Victory Club in 2017. On Nov. 23 of this past season, Owens defeated Lansing Community College 107-55 to help Llanas achieve his 300th career win, which earned him the honor.

Llanas, who has led the program to three consecutive perfect conference regular seasons, has now compiled a 325-97 (.770) record during his tenure, including a 143-29 (.883) record in OCCAC play. He has led the program to five straight conference championships, including seven over 13 seasons. He is the program's winningest coach and has led his team to three NJCAA Division II top 10 finishes in the past five years.
