Toledo, OH -- There's no place like home. Just ask the Owens Women's Basketball team.

After over a month, the Express returned to their home court and dominated Columbus State by a final of 94-49. The victory kept Owens in second place in the OCCAC title race and firmly on the heels of first place Sinclair.

The Express were led by Da'Vina Shelton is scoring with a team high 25 points on th afternoon. Shelton was 10-19 from the floor and she shot 50% from beyond the arc. She also added four assists and three steals. Right behind her was fellow freshman Dai'Shona Polk, who scored most of her points in the second half. Polk finished with 21 points on 10-17 shooting and she also finished with six rebounds on the afternoon.

Sophomore Olivia Frost was on fire from three, finishing the game 4-4 from downtown, finishing with 14 points off the bench. This is the second time this year that Frost has been perfect from three. She accomplished the same feat against Cuyahoga Community College back in December, when she was 4-4 too.

Owens jumped out to a 22-13 lead after the first period, and never trailed at any point in the ballgame. In fact, Owens had the lead for all but 16 seconds of the game. The team was able to take advantage of the offensive glass, scoring 20 second chance points throughout the game, and they had 12 steals while only turning the ball over three times during the game.

Sophomore Brenda Pennington led the Express in assists with nine, while sophomore, Kaylah Ivey, led the Express with 9 rebounds.

The home victory was Owens's seventh of the season compared to just one loss which came back in November, and their scoring output shows how much this team enjoys playing at the SHAC. The team is currently averaging 96 points per game at home while ony averaging 71 point per game on the road.

The win moves Owens to 15-4 overall on the season and they are now 5-1 in the OCCAC. Columbus State fell to 9-7 overall and 4-3 in OCCAC play. The Express will hot the road once again when they are in action on Wednesday 1/24 at Lakeland with tip off scheduled for 5:30 PM.
