Toledo, OH -- After a record setting day this past Saturday, the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) names Owens Express freshman Da'Vina Shelton its Player of the Week.

Shelton was a one woman offensive machine on Saturday in the Express's 132-31 win over Hocking College. She scored 40 points on 15-20 (75%) from the floor and unbelievable 10-14 (71.4%) from three for the game against the Hawks. The Canton native did not impact the game just offensively either. She was second of the team in rebounds with nine and she also had five assists, which led the team.

Shelton's 40 points broke the single game scoring record that was set previously by Amy Amstutz, when she finished with 36 points in a game against Clark State on February 10, 1999. The weekend prior, she came up two points short of tying Amstutz's record, when she finished with 34 points in a road win over Lorain County.

The freshman is second on the Express in scoring. averaging 15.9 point per game and she is second on the team in three point percentage at 41.8%. Shelton is also averaging 4.8 rebounds a contest.

The honors from the OCCAC are the first time Shelton has won the award. She is the second member of the team to win the Player of the Week honors. Fellow freshman, Dai'Shona Polk, has won the award three times this season as well. She won for the weeks of December 25, January 1, and January 29 of this season.

Shelton and the Express will next be in action this Wednesday against Edison at 5:30 PM.
