Toledo, OH -- After a little more than a week since she last set foot on a volleyball court, freshman Shyah Wheeler is having a huge impact on the basketball court. Wheeler had a terrific first full week as a member of the Owens Women's Basketball team, and she was rewarded for her efforts by being named OCCAC Player of the Week.

On Saturday against Lorain, Wheeler led all scorers with 24 points on the afternoon. She also had seven rebounds, three steals, three assists, and two blocks.

On Sunday against Rock Valley, Wheeler led all scorers with 19 points. Despite being in foul trouble throughout most of the afternoon, she was an efficient 9-15 from the floor. She also had four steals.

Wheeler put up 21.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals and shot 57% (20-35) over the weekend.

She is the second member of the Express basketball team to be named OCCAC Player of the Week. Sophomore Taylor Works was named the inagural player to start the year.
