Toledo, OH -- With just six players for the majority of their season, much has been made about the success of the Owens Women's Basketball program. After the team's 83-60 win on Saturday, the Express made history, becoming the first time at the Division III level to win the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference in history.

The motto has been six strong from Owens's head coach Steve Perry since the early days of the season. The Express begen the year with seven players but that number fell to six around the holiday break this season. With the conference title in hand, Owens proved that you don't need 11-12 players on a team to achieve greatness.

The Express finish the 2018-19 regular season at 21-8 and a 14-2 record within the OCCAC. The title marks the seventh time in a row that the Express have either shared or won the conference title outright.

Owens will next be in action on Monday at 5:30 PM from the campus of Ohio Christian University, where they will play in the Region XII District I tournament championship against the winner of the semifinal game between Lorain and Columbus State.
