Millbury, OH---On Sunday, the Owens Express women's soccer team got a goal off a penalty kick from Haley Gasser (Northview/Sylvania, Ohio), but couldn't overcome the stun of two early goals in a loss to Delta College.

The match was played at Lake High School.

Within the first seven minutes of the match, the Pioneers scored twice off corner kicks. The Express settled down, but missed a few opportunities at goals in the half. Then, Delta stretched the lead to 3-0 just minutes into the second half. Gasser answered back with her goal moments later, but the Express couldn't muster anything further.

The match featured a 30-minute lightning delay in the second half a short time after Gasser's goal.

Shara Williams (Springfield/Holland, Ohio) started both games in goal for the Express.

Owens (4-2) will now take on Schoolcraft College at home on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Ocelots finished fourth in the nation last season and should present another stiff test for the Express.
