Toledo, OH---The Owens Express women's soccer team allowed an early goal to Jackson Community College's Rachel Mervau at the 1:59 mark, held off some additional Jackson opportunities in the first half, and had some strong shots on goal in the second half. However, luck wasn't on their side as they fell 1-0 in their second game of the season.

Shara Williams (Springfield/Holland, Ohio) stopped six shots in goal for the Express, while Jackson (3-0) had 14 shots on goal overall. On the other side, the Express had 15 shots on goal, most of them in the second half.

Among the missed chances for the Express in the second half included a ball that just eluded Sarah Weaver (Margaretta/Castalia, Ohio), who had an open shot two feet in front of the net, a ball that nearly trickled across the line in the lower left portion of the net before Jackson's goalie stopped it, a shot off the crossbar, and one that was put in the net but called back due to offsides.

Mervau's goal was assisted by Mary Stoner.
