University Center, MI---The Owens Express women's soccer team lost their first ever Region XII tournament game 2-1 to No. 14-ranked Schoolcraft College 2-1 on Saturday.

The semifinal matchup between the No. 1 seed Schoolcraft and No. 4 seed Owens started off great for the Express as Kendra Eitniear (Swanton/Swanton, Ohio) scored a few minutes into the game to seize an early lead.

A short time later, Schoolcraft was whistled for a penalty in the box. However, the Express missed a penalty kick that would have put them up 2-0 just 15 minutes into the match.

Schoolcraft seized the momentum switch and tied the match at one at halftime. Then, they scored once more in the second half to win.

Owens had lost 4-0 and 5-0 to Schoolcraft (15-1-1) in the regular season, but nearly pulled off the upset at the perfect time.
The Express finish their first official NJCAA Div. I season at 12-8. Two of their losses came in double overtime.
