Szabo Leads Express Past Indiana Tech JV

Toledo, OH---The Owens Express women's soccer team shut out the Indiana Tech University JV 5-0 at home Sunday behind two goals from Marissa Szabo (Southview/Sylvania, Ohio) and one goal and two assists from Sarah Weaver (Margaretta/Castalia, Ohio).

Kendra Eitniear (Swanton/Swanton, Ohio) put the Express on the board with a goal at the 30:00 mark. The game then remained goal-free the final 15 minutes as Owens took a 1-0 lead into the half.

Szabo scored back-to-back goals at the 66:26 and 72:48 marks of the second half to put her team up 3-0. The first one came on an assist from Eitniear and the second one came on an assist from Weaver.

Shauna Kastel (Southview/Sylvania, Ohio) also scored for Owens, while Sara Ruiz (Swanton/Holland, Ohio) added an assist.

Shara Williams (Springfield/Holland, Ohio) started in goal for the Express and saved five shots on goal.

The win completes a season sweep for the Express, who defeated Indiana Tech 4-1 on Sept. 21. Szabo has scored five goals in the two games.

The win moves the Express to 9-4 overall. They are scheduled to take on Lorain County Community College at home 4 p.m. Wednesday.
