Express Shut Out By Monroe

Toledo, OH---The Owens Express women's soccer team lost to Monroe Community College (N.Y.) 4-0 on Sunday at home. The rain-filled match was close until Monroe scored three goals over a three minute, 56 second stretch in the second half.
 
Monroe's Brittani Bove scored 14:57 into the match to open the scoring. Jenna Merica, Annie Terilli and Karly Tolentino scored the final three goals at the 73:13, 76:12 and 77:09 marks of the game. Tolentino assisted on the second and third goals for Monroe, while Terilli assisted on the first. The final one was unassisted.
 
Shara Williams (Springfield/Holland, Ohio) started in goal for the Express and saved nine shots on goal.
 
The loss drops the Express to 10-6 this year.
 
The next match for Owens is scheduled for Wednesday Oct. 19 on the road against Jackson Community College at 4 p.m. The match marks the beginning of a crucial three game stretch that will determine if the Express can gain a berth in the Region XII tournament.
