Millbury, OH---The Owens Express women's soccer team played possibly their best match of the season for the first 100 minutes and 38 seconds Friday night against No. 15 Lewis and Clark at Lake High School.
However, 38 seconds into the second ten minute overtime period, Britaney Ragusa put one into the net to give Lewis and Clark a 1-0 win.
The loss ended a four match winning streak for the Express. They had also won six of their past seven.
Shara Williams (Springfield/Holland, Ohio) started in goal for Owens and played an outstanding match. The sophomore saved 11 shots on goal.
The best scoring opportunity for the Express came on a shot off the crossbar by Kendra Eitniear (Swanton/Swanton, Ohio) in the first half.
The match marked the first overtime game in program history.
Owens is now 10-5 this year, while Lewis and Clark moves to 11-2-1. The Express will take on Monroe Community College (N.Y.) on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m. at home.
