Toledo, Ohio---Kayla Lehmann (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.) has joined several former teammates in signing with the Lourdes University women's soccer program in Sylvania, Ohio.

Lehmann, a sophomore defender on the back-to-back Region XII tournament champion Owens Community College women's soccer team, will join current and former teammates Abby Groll (Clay/Oregon, Ohio), Megan Soncrant (Clay/Oregon, Ohio), Kendyl Christian (Clay/Oregon, Ohio) and Erika Brinkman (Kalida/Cloverdale, Ohio) at Lourdes next year.

"Kayla is a tenacious and solid defender who we will look toward to lock things down in the back," said Lourdes University head women's soccer coach Jackie Donovan via LourdesAthletics.com. "She has the ability to play in multiple defensive positions while maintaining a high level of play."

Lehmann saw action in 39 games over the past two years for Owens. While making 28 starts, she scored her lone career goal as a freshman against Lorain County before adding two assists as a sophomore.

Notes

The fall of 2015 will mark the first year of women's and men's soccer at Lourdes. Soncrant, Lehmann, Groll and Christian each played the last two years at Owens, while Brinkman played the 2012 and 2013 seasons at Owens before moving on to Purdue-Calumet, where she spent a year before transferring to Lourdes for her senior year. Current sophomore Owens men's soccer player, Samuel Miller (Northview/Sylvania, Ohio) has also signed to play soccer at Lourdes next year.

Lourdes will compete in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and the NAIA.
