Toledo, Ohio---The Owens Community College women's soccer team couldn't quite muster enough offense in a 3-0 loss to No. 9 Monroe (NY) Community College in today's regular season opener at home.

Monroe's Samantha Sansone opened the game's scoring by kicking in a left to right cross from Maddie Ferris at the 11:10 mark.

Late in the half, Jessica Kreger (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.) fought for and won a ball at midfield before delivering a through ball to Jermima Job (Lincoln College/Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom), who had it free and clear against Monroe's goalkeeper, Caity Broderick. However, Broderick saved a shot towards the top left of the net to maintain her team's 1-0 lead, which they took into the half.

Early in the second half, a shot by Monroe was deflected into the net by an Owens player for an own goal.

About 20 minutes into the second half, Emily Ginley (Huddersfield New College/Halifax, United Kingdom) delivered a strong shot toward the top left portion of the net, but Broderick made the save once again.

In the 83rd minute, Owens goalkeeper Chelsie Randolph (Start/Toledo, Ohio) had to come out in an attempt to thwart a through ball, but Gabby Hallman won the ball, beat Randolph and scored the game's final goal.

Throughout the second half, Randolph performed well in net and finished with 12 saves. She made a great save with just a few minutes left on a shot about 10 feet in front of the net.

As a team, Owens produced eight shots, with four ending up on goal. Ginley, Lydia Yeager (Start/Toledo, Ohio), Job and Jordyn Wright (Riverdale/Forest, Ohio) each had one of the four.

Monroe had 22 total shots as a team, with 13 on goal.

Owens (0-1) will have tomorrow off before hosting Parkland (IL) College at 12 p.m. on Sunday at home.
