Muskegon, Mich.---Three first half goals were too much for the Owens Community College women's soccer team to overcome in a 3-2 loss on the road at Muskegon Community College today.
Melodie Glotzbach, Lauren Maus and Paige Bauster scored in the 10th, 30th and 44th minutes to give the home team a three goal cushion at halftime.
In the second half, though, Emily Ginley (Huddersfield New College/Halifax, United Kingdom) scored a pair of goals in the first 25 minutes to bring Owens within one.
Following that, however, Owens couldn't get the game-tying goal as they fell to 5-5 overall and 5-3 in Region XII play.
Kelsey Combs (Anthony Wayne/Waterville, Ohio) and Talia Swartbooi (Edenglen/Johannesburg, South Africa) assisted on Ginley's two goals. It was the first of the season for Combs and the second for Swartbooi.
Chelsie Randolph (Start/Toledo, Ohio) made five saves in goal for Owens.
Ginley's goals were the first of her collegiate career.
Owens will continue its weekend road trip tomorrow with a 1 p.m. matchup against Lake Michigan College.
