Wamer Scores First Collegiate Goal In 5-2 Win Over Lake Michigan

Benton Harbor, Mich.---The Owens Community College women's soccer team scored four goals in the second half to secure a 5-2 road victory over Lake Michigan College today.

In the first half, Katie McGruder, who had a hat trick against Owens in the first meeting between the two teams earlier this season, gave her team a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute.

Jordyn Wright (Riverdale/Forest, Ohio), however, answered back with her first of two goals just one minute later as the teams went into the half tied.

Just about a minute into the second half, Jermima Job (Lincoln College/Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom) gave Owens its first lead of the game with her first of two goals.

Lake Michigan's Jessica Bleckley responded three minutes later with a goal to tie it up at two. However, Owens scored the game's next three goals to seal the victory.

The first came from Job in the 74th minute. Wright followed with her second in the 84th minute, and Sarah Wamer (Cardinal Stritch/Walbridge, Ohio) scored her first collegiate goal in the 86th minute.

Wright and Emily Ginley (Huddersfield New College/Halifax, United Kingdom) each added one assist apiece for Owens.

Owens is now 6-5 overall and 6-3 in Region XII play. They will hit the road this coming Friday for a rematch against No. 15 Schoolcraft College (10-0).

Notes

Wright, who now has seven goals and four assists this year, has an even 14 goals and 14 assists in her two-year career.

Job now has 14 goals in her freshman campaign, and Ginley's assist was her first of the season.
