Shelli Smith returns for her third season as an Express assistant coach following a one-year absence from the Owens volleyball program in 2002.  A graduate of Clay High School, she earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo.  Smith currently is a teacher in the Toledo Public Schools and previously served as a volleyball coach for 12 years at Toledo Central Catholic, Notre Dame Academy, Bowsher and Sylvania Northview high schools.  While as a head coach, her teams captured five City League and three Northern Lakes League championships.  She also was a three-time Coach of the Year in the NLL and serves as a USA Volleyball Junior Olympic coach for the Toledo Volleyball Club.  Smith resides in Sylvania.
