Shelli Smith returns for her fourth season as an assistant coach for the Express women's volleyball program. A graduate of Clay High School, she earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo. She is currently a teacher in the Toledo Public School system and previously served as a volleyball coach for 12 years at Toledo Central Catholic, Notre Dame Academy, Bowsher and Sylvania Northview High Schools.

While a head coach, her teams captured five City League and three Northern Lakes League championships. She was also a three-time Coach of the Year in the NLL and serves as a USA Volleyball Junior Olympic coach for the Toledo Volleyball Club (TVC).

Smith resides in Sylvania, Ohio.
