High School: 2006 Edon High School graduate, Edon, Ohio, where she was First Team All-Buckeye Border Conference, First Team All-District and Second Team All-Ohio.  In addition, Word earned both BBC and District player of the year honors.  She also was a Second Team All-BBC selection in basketball.
